Penury forced a 32-year old migrant woman, who had a large family of seven children, to commit suicide here last night along with 12-year old daughter as they jumped before the speeding Howrah Duplicate train, the Government Railway Police said today.
The 12-year old daughter, Sapna, had followed her mother and also jumped before the train with her mother, the GRP said. The bodies of the two deceased hailing from Durga Colony were found here this morning.
Their crushed bodies, Renu and her daughter, were found near Dhandari Kalan railway track this morning, the Government Railway Police said. The deceased hailed from Durga Nagar in the city and originally belonged to Darbhanga in Bihar.
“The woman was supposedly to be under tremendous tension as the family hardly had any money to feed the seven children. She worked as a domestic help while her husband Ashok Kumar is a daily wager,” the investigating officer, Sikander Singh said. “It has been learnt that the parents had problem supporting their large family.

“Last evening she left home on the pretext of visiting the market and one of her three daughters also accompanied her. But the woman had planned to commit suicide and her daughter also followed her mother. They jumped before Howrah Mail Duplicate at around 8.45 pm last night,” ASI Sikander said. He added the family did not even have money to perform the last rites of the two deceased.
