Social Services Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri is optimistic that the poverty level in Indonesia is decreasing.
The target is to achieve 10 – 8 percent decrease in five years. “If the poverty eradication program is carried out consistently and supported by the public, [the poverty level can be reduced].
Take KUBE [joint business group] for an example, if it is managed professionally, it can increase the family’s income,” said the Minister in Sumedang on Monday, Dec. 7.
It is expected that when the poverty level decreases, the human development index will increase.
KUBE is a business group in poor area; each is made of ten families.
Meanwhile, Sumedang Regent Don Murdono said that the government is prepared if their area is to become the model for free-poverty area.
As a form of real action to eradicate poverty, the Social Service Department gave Rp 12.929 billion fund to six regencies in West Java, which include Sumedang, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Kuningan, Majalengka, and western Bandung.
